Bruce Campbell, PhD, is the creator and first Executive Director of the ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia Self-Help Program, a non-profit organization that offers a suite of low-cost and free self-help courses over the Internet, plus two websites with over 700 pages of resources for people with CFS and fibromyalgia. The organization was founded in 1998 and has conducted more than 550 self-help classes and groups.
Dr. Campbell is a graduate of Stanford University and holds a PhD from the University of California. Before becoming ill with CFS, he worked in the Patient Education program at the Stanford Medical School. The program developed self-management courses for multiple chronic conditions.
He is the author of many articles and the self-help book Managing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. His account of recovery was originally published in shorter form in the magazine of the CFIDS Association of America as Using Self-Help to Recover from CFIDS.
